Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $66.20 per ounce amid volatility driven by shifting U.S. monetary policy expectations. Recent dovish comments from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller have eased bets for a September rate hike, supporting a rebound from sub-$64 lows as Treasury yields and the dollar moderated. The metal remains sensitive to labor-market data, with Friday’s August Nonfarm Payrolls report and the subsequent inflation releases (CPI, PPI) likely to refine the implied rate path ahead of the mid-September FOMC meeting. Structural factors, including a projected 2026 supply deficit and steady industrial demand, provide longer-term support, though near-term price action continues to track real-yield movements and USD strength. Traders are watching for confirmation of disinflation trends that could sustain the recent recovery.
