This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed Designated Contract Market (DCM) self-certifies sports-related event-based contracts with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source will be official information released by the CFTC or the respective DCM; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Recent CFTC advisories, including the July 2026 guidance on event contract series, have tightened self-certification standards under Regulation 40.2 by discouraging broad template filings and requiring detailed Core Principle 3 manipulation analyses, settlement methodologies, and often pre-filing league engagement. This has elevated compliance costs and stay risks for smaller or newer DCMs while favoring established players like CME Group, which has already completed thousands of unopposed sports-related certifications since early 2025. Platforms tied to sportsbooks, such as Railbird (DraftKings), continue filing targeted football contracts ahead of the 2026 season, sustaining momentum amid competitive pressure to capture prediction market volume before stricter proposed rulemaking takes effect. Trader consensus reflects these dynamics, with frontrunners benefiting from precedent and others facing uncertainty around year-end deadlines.
