This market will resolve according to the total number of valid votes cast in the first round of the 2026 midterm election for Senator from Mississippi. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the results of the specified election are not definitively known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to the lowest range bracket. All votes certified for candidates or non-candidate options in the specified election are included. Invalidated or blank votes are not included. In ranked-choice or preferential systems, the first-round vote total will be used. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the first round of the 2026 midterm election for Senator from Mississippi, as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Trader consensus centers on 700K-800K total votes in the November 3, 2026, general election as the leading range at 51%, reflecting Mississippi’s typical midterm participation levels between presidential-year highs and lower off-year contests.** Recent primary results on March 10 showed unusually strong Democratic turnout—roughly 150,000 votes, nearly matching Republican primary participation of about 158,000—which analysts link to heightened mobilization around nominee Scott Colom. This surge, combined with polling showing a competitive general election between incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith and Colom (narrow leads or ties in some surveys), has supported expectations of elevated engagement relative to past midterms. Historical benchmarks reinforce the positioning: the 2023 gubernatorial contest drew roughly 821,000 ballots, while earlier Senate midterms posted lower figures amid Mississippi’s consistently below-national turnout rates. Factors such as Democratic outreach to new voters, potential independent candidacy effects, and the absence of a presidential contest on the ballot anchor probabilities around the 700K-800K band, with adjacent ranges capturing uncertainty over enthusiasm gaps or weather and procedural variables on election day. No major late-breaking events have shifted these dynamics in recent weeks.
