Persistent upper-level ridging and surface high pressure have sustained unseasonably warm conditions across the Southeast, with recent Atlanta observations showing overnight lows in the low 70s and daytime highs in the mid-90s. National Weather Service guidance points to a minimum near 70–74°F for September 18 under mostly clear skies and light winds, well above the 1991–2020 average low of 65°F. Trader emphasis on the 63°F-or-below outcome at 49% implied probability likely reflects model spread in boundary-layer cooling rates and the possibility of localized radiational cooling or minor frontal influences not yet dominant in official forecasts. Upcoming NWS updates and final climatological data will determine resolution.
