This market will resolve to "Yes" if IMAX, Universal Pictures, or an authorized theatrical distributor officially announces an extension of the 70mm IMAX run of "The Odyssey" beyond its current end date of September 16, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The extension must be officially announced between this market's creation date and September 16, 2026, 11:59 PM ET to qualify. A one-time special, encore, private, or otherwise isolated screening will not qualify. The regular public 70mm IMAX theatrical run must be extended beyond September 16, 2026 to qualify. If only the standard digital IMAX run (not the 70mm film format) is extended, this market will resolve to "No". An official extension announcement made within the qualifying window will immediately resolve this market to "Yes". The resolution sources for this market will be official announcements from IMAX Corporation, Universal Pictures, or other authorized theatrical distributor.**Sustained demand for the scarce 70mm IMAX format is the main driver behind the 57.5% market-implied odds on another extension.** Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the first feature shot entirely on IMAX cameras, opened to strong box-office results on July 17, 2026, with IMAX screens (including 70mm) generating outsized revenue and rapid sell-outs weeks in advance at the roughly 25 U.S. theaters equipped for the format. This prompted Universal and IMAX to extend the premium run through mid-September, adding showtimes after initial plans through mid-August. Traders are weighing continued sell-out momentum and IMAX’s historical pattern of prolonging high-demand Nolan engagements against the finite number of 70mm projectors and the approaching September 16 cutoff. Key near-term catalysts include weekly ticket-sales reports, any fresh announcements from exhibitors or IMAX, and whether the film maintains its premium-format hold as wider releases compete for screens.
