Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday remain locked in a tight contest for 2026's biggest opening weekend, with traders assigning nearly identical implied probabilities amid strong Marvel franchise momentum. Brand New Day already delivered a record domestic launch exceeding $360 million after July previews shattered prior benchmarks, driven by Tom Holland and Zendaya's draw plus broad audience appeal. Doomsday counters with December holiday positioning, multiverse-scale hype featuring returning Avengers leads, and early presale strength that signals event-level turnout comparable to past tentpoles. Toy Story 5, Dune: Messiah, and the Hunger Games prequel trail far behind due to narrower tracking and less crossover anticipation. The outcome hinges on whether Doomsday's December debut can eclipse the summer benchmark.
