Recent forecast data from NOAA and regional models indicate that persistent cloud cover, high humidity, and light winds associated with a coastal low-pressure system are keeping overnight and morning temperatures in New York City from falling below the low 70s on September 13. Official guidance shows a morning low near 70–73°F and limited diurnal cooling under overcast skies with widespread rain, consistent with the market’s strong 82% implied probability on the 70–71°F bin. Historical September climatology places average lows near 63°F, but this event’s elevated moisture and suppressed radiational cooling explain the upward shift in trader expectations for a warmer minimum. Updated National Weather Service observations through early morning confirm readings holding in the 70–72°F range, with any further drop dependent on post-rain clearing later in the period.
