The formation of an interim four-party coalition government in May 2026 under Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs of the United List (AS) has positioned the alliance as the frontrunner for the October 3 parliamentary election, with traders assigning it a 53% implied probability of securing the most seats. The collapse of the prior JV-led coalition amid drone-related security tensions allowed AS to consolidate center-right and conservative support from NA and ZZS while sidelining the Progressives (PRO), shifting the government further right and emphasizing continued Ukraine backing, defense spending, and border security. Fragmented opposition—led by populist Latvia First (LPV) and the right-leaning Sovereign Power (SV) alliance—has produced polls showing multiple parties clustered near or below the 5% Saeima threshold, limiting any single challenger's path to a plurality. High undecided voter shares and Latvia's proportional representation system with coalition dynamics reinforce AS's edge in market pricing, though late swings in turnout or alliances could still alter outcomes.
