Traders see closely matched odds for 31–33°C highs in Panama City on September 2 because short-range models show modest spread around the seasonal 29–31°C baseline amid strengthening El Niño conditions. El Niño’s warmer eastern Pacific SSTs and reduced rainfall favor clearer skies and greater daytime insolation, elevating peak temperatures above long-term averages, yet afternoon convection and variable humidity can cap or boost maxima by 1–2°C. Key differentiating factors include boundary-layer moisture, wind patterns, and model consensus on cloud cover; official forecasts currently cluster near 29–30°C, with upside risk from drier anomalies that could push readings into the low 30s. Updated model runs and satellite observations in the coming days will likely narrow this uncertainty.
