Alternate metrics that differ in definition or scope will not be considered.Amazon raised its 2026 cash capex guidance to approximately $220 billion during its late-July Q2 earnings release, up from the prior $200 billion target set earlier in the year, citing elevated memory component costs and sustained AI infrastructure demand. AWS revenue accelerated to 37% year-over-year growth, reaching a $169 billion annualized run rate with a $496 billion backlog, while management indicated that even this elevated spend would fall short of 2026 and 2027 capacity needs, with notable 2028 commitments already secured. The ramp has driven trailing twelve-month free cash flow negative at $7.6 billion amid $53 billion in quarterly equipment purchases. Q3 results, expected in late October, represent the next key catalyst for any further revisions or reaffirmation of the full-year trajectory.
