Abdul El-Sayed secured the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s open U.S. Senate race after narrowly defeating Rep. Haley Stevens in the August 4 primary, while Mike Rogers advanced unopposed on the Republican side. Traders appear to view El-Sayed’s progressive momentum and unified party support as boosting his prospects in Kent County, a suburban area anchored by Grand Rapids that has trended more competitive in recent cycles. Rogers maintains a base among traditional Republican voters but trails significantly in the county-specific odds amid a closely watched general election set for November 3. Minor-party and write-in options remain at even money, reflecting limited expected impact. Upcoming debates and fall campaigning could still shift county-level positioning before Election Day.
