The 2026 Kansas attorney general race remains tightly contested as a rematch between Republican incumbent Kris Kobach and Democratic challenger Chris Mann, with both candidates advancing unopposed in the August primaries. Kobach’s narrow 2022 victory by under two points established a low baseline margin that continues to shape trader views, reinforced by recent polling showing similar closeness and Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifting the rating to Lean Republican. Mann’s stronger fundraising and support from the Democratic Attorneys General Association contrast with Kobach’s endorsements from law enforcement and backing from the Republican Attorneys General Association, while debates over crime trends, multistate litigation, and state law enforcement keep the contest balanced. National midterm dynamics and upcoming ad spending could further influence positioning before the November general election.
