This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 10 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=zggg If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Recent forecasts for Guangzhou point to a minimum temperature near 23–25°C on September 10, 2026, amid a pattern of northeast monsoon flow and scattered showers.** Official and model guidance (including WeatherBug, Yr.no, and local Chinese sources) consistently shows overnight lows in the low-to-mid 20s Celsius, with highs around 32–33°C and a 40–60% chance of thunderstorms or rain that could enhance nocturnal cooling through increased cloud cover and evaporative effects. Historical averages for the date sit at ~24.6°C, while the all-time record low is 19.4°C (2006), underscoring the potential for cooler outliers when stronger monsoon surges or heavier rain occur. Trader sentiment reflects genuine forecast uncertainty rather than a single dominant signal. The elevated 41% implied probability on 19°C or below likely stems from model runs highlighting stronger northeast winds and possible heavier precipitation bands that could suppress temperatures further, while the 35% on 29°C or higher captures scenarios with clearer skies, reduced rain, or a weaker surge allowing more typical subtropical warmth. Intermediate outcomes (e.g., 25°C at 26%) sit in the middle because small shifts in timing, wind speed, or rainfall amount—common in late-summer monsoon transitions—can easily move the minimum by 2–4°C. Key differentiating scientific factors include the strength and persistence of the northeast flow (which advects cooler continental air), the degree of nocturnal cloud cover and rain (which limits radiative cooling versus clear-sky scenarios), and any short-term adjustments in steering patterns or moisture. With the event only ~48 hours away, the next official updates from the China Meteorological Administration and refined high-resolution model runs will likely narrow the range and drive the sharpest market moves.
