Recent polling shows both Benny Gantz’s Blue and White and the newly formed Unity party, led by Gilad Erdan and Yuli Edelstein after their August 2026 split from Likud, falling below Israel’s 3.25% electoral threshold when contesting separately. This has prompted active negotiations for a joint electoral list ahead of the October 27 Knesset vote and the September 8 candidate submission deadline. Late August reports confirm direct meetings between Gantz and Erdan, with both leaders publicly stating ongoing discussions aimed at consolidating centrist and right-leaning Zionist votes for a broad unity government. These talks, alongside parallel contacts involving Ayelet Shaked, reflect threshold pressures and the fragmented party landscape, shaping trader assessments of an alliance.
