This market will resolve based on the highest wind speed, in miles per hour, reported on the summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire in August, 2026. The resolution source will be data published by the Mt. Washington Weather Observatory. F6 reports containing daily wind speed recordings can be found here: https://mountwashington.org/weather/mount-washington-weather-archives/monthly-f6/. The resolution source for this market measures wind speeds to whole mile per hour (eg, 67mph). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to the wind speed recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following month has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Mount Washington Observatory data show summit winds averaging under 10 mph with gusts below 20 mph through the first week of August 2026, consistent with the mountain’s typical summer pattern when the jet stream remains north and fewer strong mid-latitude systems reach New England. Historical August peak gusts at the summit rarely exceed 60–80 mph, far below the 231 mph April 1934 record, because warmer-season atmospheric stability and weaker pressure gradients limit extreme events. Traders are therefore pricing in a modest ceiling for the month’s maximum unless an unseasonal low-pressure system or remnant tropical moisture arrives later in August. Resolution hinges on official daily F6 reports from the observatory, with any new model consensus or NWS forecast updates that signal stronger winds capable of shifting implied probabilities.
