This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a diplomatic meeting between representatives of Israel and Lebanon between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A diplomatic meeting refers to a deliberate meeting between representatives of the listed countries who are acting in an official capacity and are authorized to engage in negotiation or diplomacy regarding Israel-Lebanon relations on behalf of their governments. Meetings conducted indirectly, for example, through designated mediators, facilitators, or interlocutors acting with the knowledge and authorization of the relevant governments, will qualify. Brief greetings, chance encounters, or talks otherwise not deliberately aimed at diplomacy or negotiation will not count. The meeting must be in-person (including indirect in-person meetings) and must be publicly acknowledged by either government or reported by a consensus of credible media. Remote meetings, phone calls, or other meetings where the relevant parties are not present will not count. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of the Israel and Lebanon, and a consensus of credible reporting.**Ongoing US-mediated negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, centered on implementing the June 26, 2026, trilateral framework agreement signed in Washington, form the core driver of expectations around additional diplomatic meetings.** The accord established a sequenced process for Lebanese Armed Forces to assume control of designated “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon in exchange for verified Hezbollah disarmament and phased Israeli redeployments, with a trilateral Military Coordination Group overseeing progress. Multiple rounds of technical and military talks have since occurred in Rome (mid-July and August 4–6), focusing on border issues, disarmament verification, and pilot-zone standards, though implementation has advanced slowly amid Hezbollah’s rejection of the framework and Israel’s insistence on measurable security gains before further withdrawals. Recent developments, including Israeli strikes and demolitions in occupied areas plus Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s August 20 Vatican discussions on the agreement, underscore persistent gaps that could either sustain technical sessions or enable higher-level diplomatic engagement if verifiable progress emerges. Trader assessments of near-term meetings therefore hinge on whether coordination advances enough to justify escalated talks within the resolution window.
