Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Fukushima on October 25, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Fukushima gubernatorial elections. Any interim or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If no candidate reaches the legally required number of votes to win the election, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Fukushima and Japan, including the Fukushima Prefecture Election Management Committee (https://www.pref.fukushima.lg.jp/sec/62010a/).Incumbent Masao Uchibori holds a commanding lead in the Fukushima gubernatorial election market due to his long tenure since 2014, cross-party backing including a March 2026 LDP prefectural federation resolution, and focus on post-2011 reconstruction priorities. The November 10 term expiry sets the contest for an October 25 vote after an October 8 announcement, with limited organized opposition emerging among declared or potential challengers. Trader consensus reflects the structural advantages of incumbency in Japanese prefectural races and the absence of major recent developments that would elevate any alternative. Late shifts remain possible if a high-profile independent or coordinated challenge gains traction before the filing deadline, though no such movement has materialized to date.
