The crowded field of more than two dozen candidates for the October 2026 Chiclayo mayoral election has produced a fragmented contest in which no single contender holds a dominant position. Nilton Emilio Chafloque Córdova leads the listed probabilities at 32.5 percent, followed closely by Duber Alberto Fernández Silva at 30.5 percent, with the next tier clustered in the mid-20s and several others in the low-to-mid teens. Peru’s local races frequently feature weak party structures and high candidate entry, dispersing voter support across independents and smaller organizations. With the election still months away, limited polling data and the absence of major endorsements or campaign milestones have left trader consensus reflecting this uncertainty, where small shifts in turnout or late alliances could narrow or widen the current spreads.
