Incumbent Democrat Mike Thompson leads the field in California's 4th Congressional District after the June 2, 2026, top-two primary. Redistricting added rural, conservative-leaning areas from counties including Colusa, Placer, and Yuba, expanding the electorate beyond the district's traditional North Bay base. Thompson, seeking a 15th term, competed against Democratic challenger Eric Jones and multiple Republicans including Ray Riehle, Sharon Brown, and Mandy Ghusar. Under the jungle primary rules, the two highest vote-getters advance to the November general election regardless of party. Partial results showed Thompson ahead, followed by Riehle, with Jones placing third.
