Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office moved in early August 2026 to file a public civil action seeking a court-ordered suspension of Discord, citing inadequate child-safety measures after the death of a 13-year-old and prior violent incidents plotted on the platform. This follows Discord’s March rollout of age-assurance tools and content filters to meet the Digital ECA statute, yet regulators view compliance as insufficient. Similar past enforcement against platforms like X has shown Brazilian courts can order rapid blocks when data-localization or moderation demands are unmet. Traders are watching for any last-minute agreement on enhanced age verification or federal court filings that could trigger or avert a nationwide ban before key deadlines.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
