Daejon Love faces federal wire fraud and conspiracy charges in Oregon stemming from an alleged multi-year romance scam that netted roughly $1.3 million from at least 26 victims across four states. Prosecutors built the case on FBI affidavits detailing how Love posed as a San Francisco 49ers player or wealthy investor on dating apps, with accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan posing as his financial adviser to pitch fake investments; financial records show no legitimate securities activity, only cash withdrawals and luxury spending. Love remains in custody after a judge ruled him a flight risk at a late-August hearing, with his first Oregon appearance pending transfer from Idaho. In federal fraud cases with extensive documentation and multiple victims, early plea deals are common to secure sentencing reductions, though no plea has been reported yet and the next court milestones could shift timelines.
