Displayed options of "Increase" or "Decrease" will include policy rate increases or decreases of any size. The Bank of Korea’s August 27 decision to raise the benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 3.00% for the second consecutive meeting anchors current pricing for the November outcome, reflecting persistent core inflation at 2.6% in July, headline inflation forecasts of 2.7% for 2026, and upgraded GDP growth of 3.3% driven by semiconductor exports. The board’s updated dot plot shows a median endpoint of 3.25% over the next six months, with analysts citing financial-stability risks in the housing market and a need for gradual tightening as key influences on the 40% implied probability of a further 25-basis-point hike versus the 53.5% chance of a hold. Incoming data through October, including August-September inflation and second-quarter nominal GDP, will shape expectations ahead of the next policy meetings.
