Recent Nielsen data shows broadcast news programs like ABC World News Tonight holding steady in the 7–8.5 million viewer range during early August, while summer scripted premieres and streaming titles generate strong but fragmented audiences measured differently. New seasons of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ and Reacher on Prime Video, plus FX’s The Shards, launched in the first half of the month with solid debut buzz yet limited linear reach so far. This keeps the top weekly viewership count tightly contested between established news blocks and any breakout premiere, with traders pricing in modest upside from weekend sports or late-week episodes. The market reflects typical summer softness where no single title has surged past the low-to-mid 8 million threshold in recent weeks.
