Argentina’s official USD/ARS rate trades near 1,488 in mid-August 2026 amid ongoing stabilization under the Milei administration’s fiscal surplus, reserve-building efforts, and inflation-linked crawling band. Monthly inflation has eased toward 2 percent or lower after peaking earlier, supporting modest depreciation expectations through year-end. Market-implied odds favor outcomes below 1,700, reflecting trader consensus that continued monetary tightening, IMF-supported external balance, and export-driven reserve accumulation will limit further weakening despite persistent price pressures. Key near-term catalysts include September–December inflation prints and central-bank foreign-exchange purchases, which could anchor the rate closer to 1,550–1,650 if disinflation holds.
