Voter turnout in U.S. House midterms typically ranges from 47-50 percent of the voting-eligible population, producing totals near 110-120 million ballots as seen in 2018 and 2022 cycles. Recent special election results show Democratic overperformance relative to 2024 baselines, pointing to stronger opposition mobilization, while primary turnout data through mid-2026 indicates some states meeting or exceeding historical benchmarks. Elevated youth registration in multiple states and the higher voting propensity of college-educated voters—who lean Democratic—add upward pressure on participation. At the same time, Republican efforts to engage lower-propensity supporters and the influence of economic and immigration issues create counterbalancing uncertainty. With roughly 15 months until November 2026, these competing mobilization dynamics keep the distribution of likely totals tightly clustered around the 115-125 million range in trader assessments.
