The vacancy in the White House Press Secretary role after Karoline Leavitt's departure on August 27, 2026, has left the next briefing open to multiple administration figures, producing closely matched trader probabilities across senior officials. Recent briefings by Vice President JD Vance and prior stand-ins from cabinet ranks such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent illustrate the pattern of rotating spokespeople during transitions. No permanent successor has been confirmed, keeping implied probabilities distributed among candidates including Stephen Miller, Anna Kelly, and others while the position remains unfilled. Scheduled events, an official appointment announcement, or a White House decision on briefing leadership could quickly shift the distribution as traders reassess near-term resolution odds.

Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify.
For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing.
Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify.
If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first.
If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
