The September 20 Abgeordnetenhaus election features a fragmented party landscape with no clear majority, keeping implied probabilities for leading mayoral contenders tightly clustered as traders weigh coalition scenarios. Incumbent Kai Wegner’s July withdrawal as CDU lead candidate after a power outage controversy elevated Stefan Evers, the finance senator, while Elif Eralp of Die Linke benefits from her party’s polling edge near 22 percent. Other parties including the Greens, SPD, and AfD sit in a narrow band, underscoring that the next governing mayor will emerge from post-election negotiations rather than direct selection. Late polling shifts, turnout among younger voters, or announced coalition preferences could widen gaps ahead of the vote.
