The Legislative Yuan advanced the motion and held inquiries, but the May 19, 2026, roll-call vote ended 56-50 in favor—well short of the two-thirds supermajority (76 of 113 seats) required to proceed to the Constitutional Court. The opposition holds roughly 55 percent of seats, creating a structural barrier that has rendered the effort largely symbolic. No further impeachment motions or qualifying legislative actions have advanced since the May vote, amid ongoing partisan gridlock on fiscal and governance issues. Trader consensus reflects these procedural thresholds and seat math, with any shift hinging on future elections altering the Legislative Yuan balance or unforeseen escalations in cross-party disputes.
