General elections are scheduled to take place in Brazil on October 4, 2026. This market will resolve according to the number of transgender candidates who win election as Federal Deputy (Deputado Federal) in the specified elections. A candidate will be considered “transgender” if they declare a gender identity (Identidade de gênero) visible on the Brazilian candidature divulgence portal (Divulgação de Candidaturas e Contas Eleitorais, https://divulgacandcontas.tse.jus.br/) on October 3, 2026, 12:00 PM Brasilia time, and that declared orientation is transgender (transgênero). This market will resolve according to gender identity declarations visible at the specified time. Future revisions, retractions, and withdrawals will not be considered. Candidates who abstain from declaring a transgender identity on the candidature divulgence portal will not be considered. This market will include all candidates for the office of Federal Deputy (Deputado Federal) present on the candidature divulgence portal. Candidates for any other office will not be considered. A candidate will be considered to have won if they are elected to the office they are contesting, regardless of how many candidates may be elected to the same position. A candidate’s gender or sex self-description, rumors, and behavior outside of the candidature divulgence portal will not be considered. The sexual orientation (orientação sexual) of the relevant candidates will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to the lowest bracket. This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results and information as reported by the Brazilian government, specifically the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, TSE) (e.g., https://dadosabertos.tse.jus.br/, https://divulgacandcontas.tse.jus.br/).The closely matched market-implied odds between the 6-7 and 8+ buckets underscore the competitive dynamics in Brazil's 2026 federal deputy race, where an expanding slate of transgender candidates is generating buzz around cultural representation and voter sentiment. Building on the 2022 breakthrough that seated two trans women, rising visibility through advocacy campaigns and party nominations could drive higher totals, yet historical patterns in multi-member districts and entrenched voting blocs sustain support for more modest outcomes. Key differentiators include final candidate confirmations, state-level turnout trends, and momentum from recent activist pushes, with traders closely watching how these elements shape the path to resolution on election day.
