Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 5, 2026, indicate a daytime high near 76–83°F with an overnight minimum around 68°F under partly cloudy skies and northeast winds of 5–15 mph. Lake Michigan’s moderating influence and onshore flow limit radiational cooling, keeping the daily low in the upper 60s to low 70s rather than the historical September average of 63°F. Model consensus shows limited divergence on wind direction and cloud cover, which explains the tight clustering of market-implied odds between 68–75°F; stronger northerly advection or clearer skies could push readings toward 66–67°F, while persistent humidity or urban heat effects support the 72–73°F range. Updated NWS briefings and hourly observations will refine resolution criteria before the calendar day closes.
