Recent August CPI data showed China's annual inflation rebounding to 0.8% from July's 0.5% low, driven by higher energy and transport costs amid Middle East supply concerns, while food deflation and weak household demand continued to cap gains. Core inflation edged up modestly to 1.0%, and producer prices firmed to 3.8% on commodity inputs. Analysts project September readings near 0.9-1.0% as these offsetting forces persist into the release window, with limited pass-through from upstream pressures due to soft consumption and property-sector drag. Trader positioning in the 0.9-1.0% range reflects this base-case outlook, while wider spreads on lower and higher bins capture uncertainty around energy volatility and domestic demand trends ahead of the mid-October National Bureau of Statistics report.
