Recent BLS data show the U.S. city-average retail price for a dozen Grade A large eggs at $2.27 in August 2026, up 3.8% month-over-month yet 36.7% below year-ago levels, reflecting post-2025 avian influenza flock rebuilding that produced oversupply and drove wholesale benchmarks below $0.40 per dozen. Trader consensus clusters in the $2.20–$2.40 range because these supply gains have outpaced demand absorption, though June detections of highly pathogenic avian influenza across multiple states introduce upside risk via potential depopulation within the typical six-to-eight-week lag. Elevated feed costs, primarily corn and soybean meal, continue to support a production-cost floor, while the next CPI release on October 14 will provide the first September reading. Market-implied odds therefore embed a narrow band around recent realized levels with limited room for sharp moves absent renewed outbreak scale.

The St. Louis Fed bases its numbers for egg prices on the BLS's CPI release. The September release is presently scheduled for October 14, 2026. Resolution of this market will take place upon the update of the St. Louis Fed's chart. If no data for the specified month is released by the date the next month's data is scheduled to be released, this market will resolve based on data from the last available month.
The resolution source for this market measures prices to the third decimal place. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket.
