Close competition between the sub-5 and 15-19 outcome bands reflects traders' uncertainty over LGBTQ+ electoral gains amid Brazil's 2026 federal deputy races. Historical patterns show modest representation—typically single digits to low teens openly elected in recent cycles—with 2022 marking a breakthrough via the first two trans federal deputies amid broader growth to around 18 LGBTQ officials nationwide. Key differentiators include rising candidate numbers driven by visibility campaigns and gender/race funding quotas, offset by persistent barriers such as documented political violence, conservative legislative resistance, and polarized voter sentiment that can suppress turnout or support. Party nomination deadlines and late-campaign momentum shifts will likely determine whether totals stay minimal or push into the mid-teens.
