Ramzan Kadyrov continues to receive strong backing from the Kremlin and United Russia, which unanimously nominated him in July 2026 for another term ahead of the September 20 Chechen head election. Persistent reports of his declining health, including repeated hospitalizations linked to kidney issues and other conditions, have fueled succession speculation and positioned close allies such as Magomed Daudov and Adam Delimkhanov alongside family members like sons Adam and Akhmat as potential interim or longer-term figures. However, Kadyrov has repeatedly demonstrated influence in Moscow by securing his preferred outcomes on appointments and policy, while legal age requirements limit immediate dynastic handover. These factors have kept trader-implied probabilities of his departure by late 2026 low, reflecting expectations of continuity through the election cycle absent a sudden escalation in health or federal intervention.
