**Andy Burnham’s recent ascension as Labour leader and prime minister has stabilized expectations around UK leadership continuity.** After Keir Starmer resigned in June 2026 amid collapsing poll ratings, local election losses, and internal party pressure, Burnham secured the role in July following a strong by-election win and endorsements from key figures. Labour retains a commanding parliamentary majority, with the next general election not due until 2029. Traders see limited near-term risk of another change before the end of 2027. Burnham enters with stronger personal appeal and a mandate to counter Reform UK gains, though he will face tests in the May 2027 local elections and must deliver on fiscal and economic challenges. The 85.5% implied probability on two prime ministers by end-2027 reflects this baseline of relative stability, while the modest 13.5% on three allows for an unexpected early contest or health-driven transition. A fourth or more remains a long-shot tail risk absent major shocks.

This market will resolve based on the number of unique individuals to hold the position. For example, if an individual is appointed twice within the specified timeframe, they will only count once for resolution.
To count for resolution, an individual must have been officially appointed by the United Kingdom Monarch. An individual’s time of appointment will have no bearing on this market so long as the individual officially serves as Prime Minister within the specified timeframe. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market
For clarity, Keir Starmer will count as one Prime Minister for the purposes of this market.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of the United Kingdom; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
