**AfD's sustained lead in Saxony-Anhalt Landtag polls, consistently above 40 percent since mid-2025 and recently at 41-43 percent versus CDU's 22-23 percent, underpins the near-certain trader consensus on its victory.** Long-term gains for the party, driven by regional voter priorities on immigration, security, and economic issues in eastern Germany, have widened the gap from the 2021 result. Incumbent CDU-led coalition fatigue and the party's classification as far-right extremist by state authorities have further consolidated AfD support around candidate Ulrich Siegmund. With the September 6, 2026 election underway, smaller parties hovering near or below the 5 percent threshold raise the prospect of an outright AfD majority in the 83-seat Landtag. Late turnout shifts or unexpected swings remain the primary variables that could still alter the final seat distribution.
