Eli Savit secured the Democratic nomination for Michigan attorney general at the party's August 2026 convention, positioning him as the frontrunner in this open-seat contest following Dana Nessel's term limit. Doug Lloyd emerged as the Republican nominee after his party's convention the same month. Traders assign Savit a 67% implied probability, reflecting Michigan's recent Democratic strength in statewide executive races and the absence of a primary contest that could have shifted momentum. Lloyd trails at around 30%, consistent with historical patterns in the state where the party holding the governorship often performs better in down-ballot contests. Third-party and other options remain lower-probability alternatives. The November 3, 2026, general election remains the key resolution trigger, with limited new polling available since the conventions.
