This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Spain by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of at least one house of the Spanish Parliament or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of at least one house of the Spanish Parliament prior to their scheduled election at the end of their parliamentary term. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Spain; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s minority PSOE-Sumar government has repeatedly signaled it will serve the full legislative term, with the next scheduled general election due no later than August 2027. Sánchez explicitly rejected speculation of an early national vote in June 2026 and pointed instead to a possible contest in February or March 2027. No constitutional triggers—such as a successful no-confidence motion, sustained parliamentary impasse on the national budget, or loss of key regional support—have materialized to force dissolution before year-end. Regional snap elections in Aragon, Extremadura, and elsewhere stemmed from local budget shortfalls and do not extend to the Cortes Generales. Opposition demands from the PP for early polls amid ongoing corruption inquiries have not altered the government’s stance or created procedural openings. Traders therefore price an 80 percent probability of “No,” reflecting the absence of immediate catalysts and the prime minister’s consistent commitment to completing the mandate.
