The Richmond, BC mayoral race remains fragmented ahead of the October 17, 2026 vote, with nominations still open until mid-September and no incumbent seeking re-election. Multiple candidates, including incumbent councillors Alexa Loo and Kash Heed alongside Sheldon Starrett, Henry Yao, Mei Kang, Rob Howard, and Dickens Cheung, have formed competing slates and announced platforms on housing, development, and local services. A June 2026 poll showed high undecided support near 50 percent alongside single-digit to low-20s shares for leading names, reflecting the absence of consolidation behind any contender. Trader consensus pricing reflects this even split among top options, as early positioning, slate alignments, and limited public polling have yet to produce decisive separation. Upcoming nomination deadlines, candidate forums, and campaign finance filings could shift momentum by clarifying viable paths or consolidating support before early voting begins.
