This market will resolve to "Yes" if any player records more than 14 interceptions during the 2026-27 NFL regular season, thereby breaking the NFL single-season interceptions record. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The NFL single-season interceptions record is 14, set by Dick "Night Train" Lane in 1952. Matching the record exactly will not be sufficient; a player must exceed 14 interceptions for this market to resolve to "Yes". Only regular season games count. Playoff games, including Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championship, and Pro Football Championship games, do not count. A player's total is the total he records across all of his 2026-27 NFL regular season games, including games played for more than one team. Only interceptions recorded on defense count; interceptions thrown by a passer do not count. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether any player exceeded 14 interceptions within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "50-50". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Modern NFL passing schemes, improved quarterback decision-making, and rule protections for offensive players have driven league-wide interception totals sharply lower in recent seasons, with annual leaders rarely exceeding seven or eight picks. The single-season record of 14, set by Dick “Night Train” Lane in 1952, has gone untouched since Lester Hayes reached 13 in 1980, and even Trevon Diggs’ 11 in 2021 stands as the closest modern approach. Entering 2026, no defensive back enters the year with the combination of opportunity, scheme fit, and matchup volume needed to threaten double-digit totals, let alone the record. Trader consensus at 55% on “No” reflects these structural barriers and the absence of any roster or rule development that would meaningfully reverse the downward trend.
