Recent polling averages place the SPD at 27–29% vote share in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ahead of the September 20, 2026 Landtag election, down from its 39.6% result in 2021 that delivered 34 seats. This positioning reflects the AfD’s sustained lead near 35–36%, competition from the Left and smaller parties, and the challenges facing the incumbent SPD–Left coalition under Minister-President Manuela Schwesig. Trader consensus on 22–25 seats for the SPD as the modal outcome aligns with these vote-intention trends and standard seat-projection models applied to the state’s 71-seat parliament. No major late-campaign shifts have altered the pattern in the most recent surveys from July 2026.
