The US Dollar Index (DXY) trades near 100.22 following the Federal Reserve’s September 16 decision to raise the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to the 3.75–4.00% range—the first hike in over three years. Policymakers’ updated dot plot and Chair Kevin Warsh’s emphasis on persistent inflation near 3.7% PCE have lifted market-implied odds of additional tightening later in 2026, supporting higher real yields and widening policy differentials versus other central banks. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have added safe-haven demand, while recent data such as lower initial claims and firmer regional surveys reinforced the bullish tone. Traders now watch September flash PMIs, industrial production, and resuming Fed commentary for further signals on the rate path ahead of the week of September 21.
