Recent polling shows the Parti Québécois leading or tied with the Coalition Avenir Québec for first place ahead of the October 5 election, leaving the Parti Libéral du Québec and CAQ as the primary contenders for second in popular vote. The PLQ maintains stronger support among anglophones and allophones concentrated in Montreal, while the CAQ has surged in recent surveys by gaining among francophones and older voters amid concerns over U.S. trade tensions. This regional and demographic split, combined with shifting voter consolidation away from smaller parties like Québec solidaire, keeps second-place probabilities closely contested. Further campaign developments on economic issues or additional polling could widen the gap between the Liberals and CAQ before election day.
