Recent polling for the September 20, 2026, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election shows the AfD leading at 35-37% while the SPD holds second at 28-32%, with the gap narrowing slightly in late August surveys from Infratest dimap and Forsa. The Linke trails at around 11%, followed by the CDU at 8-10%, with the Grüne, BSW, and smaller parties near or below the five-percent threshold. This consistent ordering across multiple institutes has shaped trader consensus around the SPD for second place. SPD gains in the most recent fieldwork, combined with its role in the incumbent government and voter preferences in head-to-head assessments, have reinforced its position ahead of the vote, while limited movement among other parties keeps their second-place probabilities lower.
