National Weather Service observations and model guidance for September 16, 2026, showed an overnight minimum near 64°F at LaGuardia Airport under stable high pressure, light southwesterly winds, and partly cloudy skies that limited radiative cooling. This aligned closely with climatological norms for mid-September in the New York City area, where average lows hover around 61–62°F, producing the market’s near-certain consensus on the 64-65°F bin. Official station data and forecast consistency left little room for deviation, as stronger winds, increased cloud cover, or a stalled front would have been required to push readings into adjacent ranges.
