Recent National Weather Service and model consensus points to a daily maximum in central NYC between 78°F and 83°F on September 17, driven by southerly flow advecting mild maritime air under mostly cloudy skies with light south winds around 8–10 mph. This setup limits full insolation while preventing significant cooling, yielding afternoon readings near or slightly above the 1991–2020 climatological average high of 76°F. Trader positioning, with 43% implied probability on 80–81°F and 30.5% on 82–83°F, aligns with this narrow range, as any brief clearing could push readings toward the upper end before evening stabilization. Official Central Park observations and updated model runs through the afternoon will determine final resolution.
