Recent July ISM Manufacturing PMI strength at 55.6—the highest since May 2022—has anchored trader expectations for August around 54–56, with the 55.0–55.9 bucket holding the narrow lead at 27.5% implied probability. Broad-based gains in new orders, production, and employment (first expansion in over two years) reflect resilient demand and AI-related investment, though elevated input costs, supplier delays tied to Middle East tensions, and tariff effects introduce moderation risk. The closely matched probabilities around the mid-50s underscore uncertainty over whether momentum persists into the August survey period ahead of the September 1 release, with market pricing balancing these expansionary and constraining forces.
