Above-normal warmth stems from a persistent warm-air mass and high dew points that elevate heat indices above 105 °F, well above the 1991–2020 September 5 climatological average of 92.8 °F. Recent observations show similar conditions produced a 100 °F high on September 4, reinforcing trader confidence in the upper-90s to low-100s range while acknowledging minor model spread and the possibility of slight under- or over-achievement depending on afternoon mixing.
