Gold (XAU/USD) near $4,430–$4,477 on September 5 faces near-term volatility driven by U.S. labor-market strength and shifting rate expectations ahead of the September FOMC. August nonfarm payrolls surprised to the upside, lifting September hike odds and supporting Treasury yields, while Fed Governor Waller’s comments on holding policy steady if inflation cools have tempered those bets. Traders now focus on the September 10 PPI and September 11 CPI releases, which will clarify whether disinflation supports a pause or revives tightening pressure. Persistent central-bank buying, Middle East geopolitical tensions, and U.S. fiscal concerns provide underlying support, though a stronger dollar or sustained higher real yields could cap upside toward $4,500–$4,700 resistance.
