Argentina’s official USD/ARS rate, currently near 1,488, trades within a BCRA-managed crawling band that widens monthly in line with lagged inflation readings. With full-year 2026 inflation projected around 29% and monthly prints near 2%, the policy framework points to roughly 8% further peso depreciation through December, keeping the rate inside the 1,600–1,700 range that commands over 75% combined implied probability. Fiscal surpluses, reserve accumulation exceeding IMF targets, and external support have anchored expectations, though persistent price pressures or any shift toward faster band adjustment could push the outcome higher. Traders price limited tail risk above 1,900 given the authorities’ commitment to gradual liberalization ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
